12 dedicated K-12 teachers from across Santa Cruz, Watsonville, Soledad, North Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Scotts Valley participated in a transformative professional learning experience. During the Hybrid Institute from June 16–26, 2025, participants focused on relevant, engaging, and meaningful writing and reading practices.

Participants had conversations around what scaffolding or support students might need to move towards independent reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Each participant designed and presented a demonstration workshop that showcased their classroom practices and expertise. The workshop topics included Personal and Family Histories, Graphing Stories, and Critical Lenses.

Additionally, participants explored different types of argumentative writing and created their own original argumentative writing pieces.  Participants completed the ISI excited to have more ways to support students in their writing.
