A Virtual Collaborative Conversation with UCSC Multiple Subject Cooperating Teachers facilitated by the Central CA Writing Project

Saturday, April 24, 2021

10:30 am – 11:30 am

As we return to our classrooms, we have a lot of curriculum “to cover.” And we want to give students time to express their ideas and feelings about their experiences. During this workshop, a CCWP teacher-consultant will provide ideas for purposeful, meaningful student writing (using curriculum and standards) that helps us build classroom communities based on culturally sustaining pedagogy, justice, and trust. Participants will share what they are doing to support student teachers and as they collaborate to develop reading, speaking, and writing activities that help students develop confidence to share writing with others, learn about others’ lives, and care for and affirm everyone in their classrooms.

What are you doing and saying to engage all of your students in sharing and learning as you continue to build classroom communities based on trust and social justice?

What meaningful, purposeful writing will your students do in your classroom?
